Movember is the leading charity changing the face of men’s health globally, tackling mental health and suicide prevention, prostate cancer, testicular cancer.

 

In our mission to stop men dying too young, we’re seeking a passionate Research Fellow to join our Los Angeles based team.

 

About the role

As the Movember Masculinities Research Fellow, you will co-establish a research program focusing on the impact of masculinities on men’s health. Reporting to the Senior Research Fellow, you will collaborate with Movember’s global partners to develop masculinity health measures, inform new interventions, practitioner training, and health system designs. You will also contribute to policy recommendations for engaging men in mass movements and clarifying the role of masculinities. This role involves both in-house research and management of external partnerships.

 

You will have the opportunity to work flexibly, blending your time between home and our Santa Monica office. The salary range for this role is $85k - $95k per annum.

 

You’ll have the opportunity to

  • Design and lead research projects on masculinities and health using qualitative and quantitative methods.
  • Collaborate with Movember teams for research proposal development and funding acquisition.
  • Produce academic papers and reports for publication and presentation.
  • Analyze data using appropriate statistical methods and ensure data quality.
  • Manage research projects, ensuring objectives and timelines are met.
  • Stay updated on men's health research trends and developments.
  • Communicate research findings to stakeholders through various channels.
  • Ensure research activities adhere to ethical standards and regulations.
  • Mentor junior researchers and assist with capacity building.
  • Foster collaboration within the men's health community and represent Movember in the field.

 

For this role, you’ll need

  • Completed Ph.D. in a relevant field (e.g., psychology, public health, social sciences)
  • Expertise in designing and conducting masculinities and health research, projects with multiple stakeholders desired.
  • Publication record in the field and experience in academic writing of papers, report and successful grant applications
  • Proficiency in both qualitative and quantitative research methods, data analysis, and statistical software (e.g., SPSS, R).
  • Proven experience in project management, including planning, coordination, and monitoring of research projects.
  • Excellent communication skills, including the ability to present complex research findings to diverse audiences.
  • Demonstrated ability to work independently and collaboratively within a multidisciplinary team.
  • Knowledge of ethics and ethical considerations in mental health research.
