Monitoring, Evaluation & Learning Manager - Health Literacy

  • Melbourne, VIC, Australia
  • Permanent full time

Movember is the leading men’s health organisation and charity changing the face of men’s health globally, tackling mental health and suicide prevention, prostate cancer, and testicular cancer. In our mission to support men’s health, we’re seeking a passionate Manager, Monitoring, Evaluation & Learning (Health Literacy) to join our Movember Institute based in Melbourne.

About the role

You will design, commission, oversee, and share the learnings from monitoring and evaluation activities conducted within Movember’s Health Literacy Impact Portfolio.

The portfolio supports health literacy across all Movember’s men’s health causes and has a particular focus on supporting literacy for help seeking, all the way from seeking help from social and community connection to online health resources, to healthcare professionals.

You will facilitate internal organisational learning, building the evidence of what improves the health literacy of men, and sharing this evidence externally to drive knowledge translation into practice.

You will have the opportunity to work flexibly, blending your time between home and our Richmond office.

You’ll have the opportunity to

  • Partner with the Global Director of Health Literacy to understand MEL needs and design the MEL approach for the whole portfolio.
  • Partner with internal teams to lead the evaluations of media campaigns, digital products, and community programs that aim to raise men’s health literacy.
  • Develop a theory of change for the portfolio and suitable indicators and measures of key outcomes for projects that sit within the portfolio.
  • Commission and manage external consultants to conduct MEL activities and oversee the quality of their deliverables.
  • Proactively identify the need for new MEL policies, processes, frameworks, and tools, and contribute to their development and addition to the MEL Team Toolkit.

For this role, you’ll need

  • Tertiary qualification in public health, psychology, behavioural science, implementation science, and/or evaluation; MA or PhD-level preferred.
  • Demonstrated experience in a similar monitoring, evaluation, and learning role within a health-focussed organisation.
  • Strong experience with end-to-end monitoring and evaluation project management (~7 years).
  • Strong experience developing theories of change, program logics, and evaluation frameworks.
  • Experience across quantitative and qualitative research methods.
  • An understanding of health promotion, and/or implementation science, and/or social determinants of health.

Bonus points for

  • Experience working as a consultant or working with external consultants, especially those from media agencies and market research consultancies.
  • Experience using co-designs methods and capturing the perspectives of key stakeholders in campaign/program development and evaluation.
  • Experience using digital analytics to generate evaluation insights and recommendations.
  • Experience working in a global context.
