Data Engineer
Annual Salary: $130,000 + super + salary packaging
Men are dying too young – and it doesn’t have to be that way.
Around the world, men are facing a health crisis: prostate cancer, testicular cancer, poor mental health and suicide. At Movember we’re on a mission to change the face of men’s health by making it easier for men to talk, act and live longer healthier lives.

Every project, every campaign, every idea adds up to real change. You’ll be part of a moustache-powered crew who believe making an impact and having fun should go hand in hand. Your mission is calling.
DO GOOD. Work for Movember.
Your Mo-Mission (should you choose to accept it):
Data is at the heart of how Movember understands its impact, runs its campaigns, and plans for the future and this role sits right at the centre of that.
As Data Engineer, you'll be a key technical contributor to Movember's data platform, working collaboratively to build and maintain the robust, automated data solutions that underpin our data strategy.
Your core focus will be on data engineering operations, Snowflake layer management, and helping deliver a self-service data marketplace model that enables teams across the organisation to access trusted, well-documented data without needing to raise a ticket every time. A significant part of this is the Data Mart layer -- purpose-built, domain-specific datasets designed for governed self-service access -- which you'll contribute to designing, building, and maintaining in close partnership with the Lead Data Engineer and teams including Insights, Global Campaign, Marketing and MEL.
On the technical side, you'll own and contribute across multiple Snowflake layers (Staging, Curated, Conformed, and Data Mart), build and maintain ingestion pipelines using AWS services, implement CI/CD pipelines via GitHub Actions, and develop data quality frameworks with automated validation across pipeline stages.
You'll also play an active role in AI enablement -- ensuring data infrastructure, governance practices and quality standards are aligned with Movember's AI Governance Framework, and that high-quality data is ready to power AI-driven insights across fundraising, campaigns and programme measurement.
This is a highly technical role with around 20% business partnering, where you'll engage with stakeholders across the organisation to understand data needs, align on definitions, and support adoption of new data workflows. You'll bring increasing autonomy to your work, take real ownership of delivery, and proactively identify opportunities to improve the platform.
No Moustache Required - but the following are:
Degree in Computer Science, Business Studies, Engineering or related discipline.
5+ years' experience in a data engineering role with demonstrated growth in technical complexity and scope.
Strong hands-on experience with Snowflake, including schema design, query optimisation, and role-based access control.
Experience designing and building data pipelines using AWS services (Lambda, Glue, S3) in production environments.
Demonstrated experience with dimensional modelling (star/snowflake schemas) and contributing to data mart or data warehouse architectures.
Experience with CI/CD for data deployments (GitHub Actions or equivalent).
Proficiency in Python and advanced SQL with strong working knowledge of relational databases.
Understanding of data governance principles including naming conventions, schema standards, data classification, and access controls.
Familiarity with the producer/consumer data model and how governed self-service data consumption works in practice.
Understanding of how data quality, structure, and governance underpin AI and GenAI readiness, including data preparation for AI consumption.
Familiarity with AI governance principles and responsible AI practices.
Ability to communicate technical data concepts clearly to non-technical stakeholders.
Strong organisational skills; comfortable working to deadlines and managing competing priorities.
Meticulous attention to detail.
Not Mission Critical - but for extra street cred:
Experience with data catalogue or metadata governance platforms (e.g., OpenMetadata, DataHub, Alation, or similar).
Experience with dbt or similar transformation frameworks.
Experience with data quality frameworks (e.g., Great Expectations or similar).
Experience developing business intelligence dashboards using Tableau, Microsoft Power BI, or similar.
Familiarity with Movember's technology stack: Salesforce, SFMC, Google Analytics.
Experience in a non-profit, health, or campaign-driven organisation.
Experience working in a global organisation with distributed teams.

GOOD CAUSE:
Working for Movember, you’ll help turn ideas (and moustaches) into millions for men’s health. Every bit we raise changes the face of men’s health by funding research, improving treatments, and supporting programs that help save lives
We’re even shaping government policies on men’s health worldwide. By meeting directly with lawmakers, and helping them understand how more investment on men’s health benefits not just men, but all the communities they serve.

GOOD VIBES:
We love weekends. That’s why our Fridays finish early for nine months of the year. But we also love our office vibe. Because here, it always feels like something big is about to happen. Be it an office-wide surprise birthday party (with cake!) or an open invite for all to hit the pub.
Come the hairy season, the energy cranks up. We’re talking celebrity visits. Live stunts on-site for TV and radio. And when we hit a fundraising milestone, the office gong might even go off. But, for those who prefer calm, no probs: hybrid working means you work where you feel best.

GOOD CREW:
Spoiler alert: we’re a no-ego, all-impact crew. That means everyone gets a say, from new starters to those leading the charge. Collaboration over hierarchies, curiosity over rigid process. And it’s true across all our offices worldwide. We work as one, sharing expertise and celebrating wins. All in the name of making the biggest impact across the globe. United, we Mo.
We offer:
Flexible hybrid working from home and our modern Richmond office
Finish work at 2pm on Fridays (Dec-Aug)
NFP salary packaging (pay less tax)
13 weeks paid parental leave and 5 weeks annual leave
Fun & collaborative culture with employee social events
Free Headspace subscription and other wellbeing initiative
Relaxed dress code

Boy, do we know the feeling of being judged. (Over how we look, and other things that shouldn’t matter.) Being different is how we started. And it’s also helped us raise $1 billion for men’s health. So, we know the power of diverse experiences, skills and perspectives.
And another impressive number is our WGEA gender pay gap: it sits at a big, fat, round 0%. If you’ve got the relevant skills and the right attitude, let nothing stand in your way of firing off your application.
Movember is stronger when Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples are part of our crew. We want you to feel supported in exploring opportunities with us. That’s why before applying, we invite you to yarn with Raymond Rosendale, Australian Indigenous Programs Manager, in a virtual catch-up to talk about the role, our community work, or just to share ideas.
Do you want to DO GOOD?
If so, we’d love to hear from you.
