Director of Philanthropy and Strategic Initiatives
Working for Movember, you’ll help raise millions for men’s health (not for a CEO’s bonus). And all those dollars do a whole lotta good. Preferred location: New York City or Los Angeles.

We are seeking a Director of Philanthropy and Strategic Initiatives
to join the Movember team.
The Healthy Connections Fund, launched by Movember, is dedicated to transforming men's health by addressing the growing crisis of social isolation and disconnection affecting millions of American men.
Our initiative takes a holistic approach to men's health, focusing on mental well-being, social connections, and healthy relationships to create positive change for men, their families, and communities.
We seek a strategic, passionate Director of Philanthropy and Strategic Initiatives to leadour fundraising and advocacy agenda — building meaningful alliances that drive philanthropic investment, elevate our brand, and advance policy and public awareness of men’s health issues.
The ideal candidate will be a tenacious relationship builder and storyteller, with aproven track record in securing major gifts and advancing mission-aligned advocacy. You will understand the nuanced challenges around men’s mental health and social connection and be skilled at leveraging high-profile spokespeople, public platforms, and evidence to make a compelling case for change.
- Develop and implement a comprehensive fundraising and advocacy strategy to secure and sustain philanthropic investments and elevate Movember’s mission in the U.S.
- Cultivate, close, and steward relationships with high-net-worth individuals, foundations, and institutional funders aligned with men’s health and social connection.
- Act as a public advocate and external voice for the Healthy Connections Fund — identifying strategic platforms, media, and policy arenas to amplify our evidence and agenda.
- Partner with senior leaders and high-profile spokespeople to pursue major alliance opportunities that integrate fundraising, brand, and advocacy goals.
- Represent the organization in key markets and at influential convenings; travel as needed to pursue priority opportunities.
- Oversee donor and partner engagement, including proposals, reports, and stewardship communications.
- Collaborate with marketing, communications, and program teams to develop compelling case materials and narratives.
- Track trends and opportunities in philanthropy, men’s health, and health equity policy.
For this role, you’ll need:
- 10+ years of experience in fundraising, strategic alliances, advocacy, or external affairs.
- Proven success in securing six- and seven-figure gifts and/or building public-private partnerships that drive meaningful impact.
- Experience managing high-level relationships across philanthropy, government, and media.
- Strong understanding of men’s health challenges, particularly mental health, emotional well-being, and social isolation.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to craft and present compelling, evidence-based cases for support and change.
- Demonstrated success navigating cross-functional teams and internal stakeholders to drive external results.
- Bachelor's degree required; advanced degree preferred.

GOOD CAUSE:
Working for Movember, you’ll help raise millions for men’s health (not for a CEO’s bonus). And all those dollars do a whole lotta good. We’ve funded cancer research. Created lifesaving medicines. And helped make cancer treatments less “one-size-fits-all”, and more specific to each patient’s needs.
We’re even calling for governments worldwide to get it together on men’s health. By meeting directly with policymakers so they change the systems that change men’s health.

GOOD VIBES:
The vibes aren’t just for Fridays – even though we start weekends early nine months of the year. Here, it always feels like something big’s about to happen. Be it an office-wide surprise birthday party (with cake!) or an impromptu all-staff boogie.
Come the hairy season, the energy gets silly. We’re talking celebrity visits. Live stunts on-site for TV and radio. And when we hit a fundraising milestone, the office gong might even go off. And that means one thing: it’s conga time.

GOOD CREW:
Let’s just get this out of the way: big egos need not apply. We’re all about straight-up solid human beings out to do meaningful work. People who’ll help you reach career-best moments. And give you the freedom to get there the best way you see fit.
Hybrid remote working is the norm. And in the office, you can sit where you please. Who knows? On any given day you could even end up desk buddies with the man who started this all.
- Health insurance, vision, dental benefits and 401k
- Free Headspace subscription and Employee Assistance Program
- 20 vacation days per year
- Relaxed dress code
- Fun and collaborative culture

Boy, do we know the feeling of being judged. (Over how we look, and other things that shouldn’t matter.) Being different is how we started. And it’s also helped us raise $1 billion for men’s health. So, we know the power of diverse experiences, skills and perspectives.
Do you want to DO GOOD?
If so, we’d love to hear from you.
